Happy Labor Day Weekend!

Good afternoon!

I hope you have fun plans for the Labor Day Weekend.  I am going to the ODU football game tonight against Virginia Tech. Go Monarchs!  For those who are Virginia Tech fans, I have to say, I received my MBA at ODU so I am a loyal Monarch.

Last Tuesday Norfolk City Council voted to support additional wellness benefits for Norfolk Police Officers.  This is a new agreement with Renova Center and Responder Health by Armor Up America. These new benefits include:

  • Crisis Intervention Services
  • Massage Therapy Session
  • Chiropractic Adjustments
  • Float Therapy Sessions
  • Biofeedback Scans
  • Infrared Sauna Sessions
  • Electromagnetic Field Therapy
  • Daily Personal Training Sessions

I spoke with a couple of NPD Officers at the National Night Out at Lambert’s Point the night before we took this vote and they were thrilled with these added benefits.  They, literally, brought it up to me as something they valued. This helps with our focused recruitment and retention efforts and it truly demonstrates our support of the NPD and their health and well-being.

Starting September 12, Norfolk branch and anchor libraries will expand their hours and days of operation. This is a long time coming and I am thankful we are building our team to be able to staff these new hours. Anchor libraries including Jordan-Newby, Pretlow, Tucker Memorial: Monday/Friday/Saturday 10:00am – 4:00pm; Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday 10:00am – 7:00pm.  Neighborhood branches including Barron Black, Blyden, Janaf, Lafayette, Larchmont, Little Creek, Park Place and Van Wyck – Monday – Thursday 10:00am-6:00pm and Friday 10:00am-4:00pm.

Election Update:  Do you live or work in Ward 2?  Want to put a yard sign in your yard/business to show support for my election in November?  I have both large and small signs and am happy to place them in your yard/business if interested.  Please email me at courtney@courtneydoyle.com with your name and address if you would like a yard sign.  I will start placing them around Ward 2 mid-late September.  Election day is November 8 with early voting starting September 23 at the Norfolk Office of Elections at City Hall. I will let you know the locations for satellite voting once those locations are announced.  I ask for you to vote for me for Norfolk City Council – Ward 2!

Enjoy the last few weeks of summer. And, I wish everyone a good start to the school year.

Cheers!

Courtney
