Flags, Trails, and Courts: April Was Busy in Norfolk

Good afternoon,

April was a fun month filled with lots of remarkable activities.

The 2026 Norfolk NATO Festival took place including the Flag Raising Ceremony, the International Tattoo and the NATO Parade.  Thirty-two NATO member countries came together to celebrate and represent the strength of this alliance.  The Flag Raising Ceremony is particularly meaningful seeing each nation walk with their country’s flag around the plaza in front of Chrysler Hall and Scope Arena.

The Elizabeth River Trail Foundation celebrated a significant milestone in their now 10 year old journey. They opened their new headquarters in the Chelsea Business District next to West Ghent.  Literally, the office is located on the Trail.  You can rent bikes, buy swag, meet with ERT staff members and more.   Come bike, ride, or walk the 10.5 mile trail that parallels the Elizabeth River with outstanding trail heads.

New tennis courts and pickleball courts are scheduled to go under construction at the park adjacent to Larchmont Elementary School. There will be two tennis courts and two pickleball courts near where the current courts stand today.  Great seeing Norfolk invest in our outdoor activities that are available to all.

Enjoy the spring weather.  I am enjoying swimming, biking and getting my outdoor activities underway given the great weather.

Cheers!

Courtney
